I love to read and learn. With the advent of social media, it seems that everyday I am presented with so much information that at times, its hard to know where to start, which article to read and how to make sense of it all with such limited time on my hands. I am a mom to two truly wonderful children with another making his or her entrance into this world sometime in the next month or so. Above all, I want to do the very best by them. Sometimes, that task feels a bit overwhelming. I do the best I can and have learned not to beat my self up over the rest….most of the time anyway ;)
My children are both happy and healthy and for that I am so grateful. However, lately it seems that my children are not necessarily the norm in that regard. Why is that? Why are so many children, for some starting at birth, struggling with horrible allergies, digestive upset, general illness, behavioral challenges and so much more? I believe that what we put into our bodies has a huge effect on what happens to them. I also believe that the energy of those around us and how we are treated by them also affect the health of our bodies and minds. These are the things that I read about. These are the topics that, as a mom, I love to have thoughtful and intelligent conversations about so that I can indeed make the best decisions for my children that will help to keep them happy and healthy. There are often times however, where I don’t know where to go for those conversations. In taking a more holistic approach to health, while definitely not alone, I am sometimes left feeling that way. In those times, I turn to facebook and my friends on there who share many of the same thoughts, concerns and questions as I. It’s great to have a network of people, many of whom I have never met, to share information with and get feedback from. What I’m hoping to do here is expand on that. I want to write and post about topics that I feel are important or that I don’t understand enough of and generate conversation about them. I am hopeful that there will be enough people with a wide variety of knowledge, skills and insights who will provide their input that it will allow this space to be a place where moms like me can learn more on these important topics in what little time we have on our hands to spend on such matters.
